Destiny Solutions Announces This Year's Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship Award: Two Awards Available in 2010-2011 Academic Year

Mary Cone Barry

As the Director of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto, Dr. Mary Cone Barrie specialized in the art and science of teaching adults. Mary was committed to the community, learning, and the implications of technology on adult learners. For Destiny Solutions, Mary was an inspiration and mentor, providing her vision and leadership during Destiny's first decade. Destiny is honored to present this scholarship in her name as recognition of her contribution to so many during her lifetime.


Should I Apply?

The Mary Cone Barrie scholarship is available to any student currently enrolled in a course or program through the continuing education division of any American or Canadian accredited college or university.

When Should I Apply?

Applications are due by July 30, 2010.

When Are the Scholarships Awarded?

Recipients of this award will be selected in August 2010 by a committee that includes Andy and Jesse Barrie, husband and daughter of Dr. Mary Cone Barrie. Winners will be announced in September 2010 and will be contacted directly by Destiny Solutions.

2008 Scholarship Winner

Masoudeh Kazemiashtiani of Richmond Hill, Ontario is currently completing the International Midwifery Program at the Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University in Toronto. As a medical practitioner from Iran, the completion of this program will enable Masoudeh to achieve her goal of making a lasting contribution to her patients and the Canadian healthcare system.

2008 Scholarship Winner

Jonathan Lambert of Leverett, Massachusetts is making a change for the better. Currently completing his Master's degree at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Jonathan, a former professional baker, is planning to become a primary school teacher to make a difference in the lives of young children like his son.


2008 - 2009 Academic Year Winner

As a mother of five, Mrs. Wisniewski attends the Rider University College of Continuing Studies in Lawrenceville, NJ, where she is in the final year of her degree. Her ultimate goal is to become a teacher so that she can better support her family while making a positive difference in the lives of her students.
